Hello all!  I have a question....  I have started my 3 yr old gelding and so far he is doing great!  He just started sitting back a little bit, just enough to annoy me, when I begin to tighten the cinch on him.  I sure don't want a bad habit to start so I was wondering if anyone had any methods on how to stop this behaviour before it gets to be dangerous.  He sits back until he feels the tug on the halter and then stops, hasn't fought that yet and sure don't want him to start doing that.

    Thanks,

    Monica

Hey Monica, if he has just been started in the last 30 days or so, It may be that he is Girth sore...they sometimes get really sore until they work through it...when you tie him, watch his expression and reaction to you patting the girth area...if he flinches...he is probably sore...
